Thursday, April 26

FIRST LANDING REENACTMENT, FIRST LANDING STATE PARK – 9 AM TO NOON; 3 TO 6 PM
• Special programs depicting the landing of the first settlers arriving in Virginia Beach on April 26, 1607, featuring the replica ships Susan Constant, Godspeed and Discovery, as well as a recreation of the John Smith Shallop.  Educational exhibits, hands-on activities, various historical programs, a replica of a Chesapeake Indian community and video productions of John Smith’s voyages.  Also on exhibit will be Sultana Projects, Inc. and information on the John Smith 400 Project, Reedville Fishermen’s Museum Spirit of 1608 and the Deltaville Maritime Museum’s Explorer.  Admission tickets/parking passes required.  No entry from beach or water.  Tickets may be purchased in advance from 1-800-933-PARK or 757-412-2320.

DISCOVERING LYNNHAVEN RIVER 2007 – 8 AM TO 3 PM
• The John Smith Shallop will be joined by a flotilla of more modern craft and will arrive at a historical site where public programs will be presented on the past, present, and future of the river.  Special programs at the Virginia Beach Aquarium and Marine Science Center, Cheapeake Bay Foundation, Ferry Plantation House, and Adam Thoroughgood House.  Free admission. BOARDWALK HISTORY FESTIVAL – 10 AM TO 5 PM
• A festival of music, food and the history of the various cultures, groups and institutions that thrive in Virginia Beach.  A grand gathering for history lovers.  At the Oceanfront Boardwalk from 17th to 31st Streets. 

Sunday, April 29 –
REENACTMENT OF THE ERECTION OF THE CROSS – 3 PM
• The Order of the Cape Henry 1607 will commemorate the erection of the cross and the naming of Cape Henry, featuring a religious observance in the style of the first New World services of the Church of England.  Cape Henry Cross, Fort Story.  Enter at Atlantic Avenue gate at 89th Street.  Free and open to the public

• Tours of the Godspeed, an exhibit of the John Smith Shallop, Hands-on historical activities, historical interpreters, Red Crooked Sky American Indian dance troupe, Suwabi African Ballet, evening concert by the US Fleet Forces Wind Ensemble, and fireworks over the James River at 9 p.m.  (Rain date for fireworks, Saturday, May 5 at 9 p.m.)  Free admission and parking.  Food vendors

Come Home to Newport News, Victory Landing Park (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
• Over 50 Heritage and cultural exhibits, working watermen, deltaville marine museum, elite fleet model ships, farm animal display with sheep shearing demonstration, entertainment on five stages, and the Newport News Children’s Festival of Friends featuring hands-on activities and free children’s rides.  The west Avenue Library will present an unveiling of the restored Captain Christopher Newport Mural.  Tours of the Godspeed.  Free admission and parking.  Food vendors.
